Fellow XS Max user here, I considered upgrading to a 14 Pro Max but decided against it since my XS is still working like a champ—with the exception of the battery which is at 78% capacity. I’m replacing this soon at Apple (~$69 + tax), and figure the cost savings vs dishing out for an upgrade is well worth it, since I plan to run this phone into the ground.

At 4 years and 2 months, it’s the longest stretch I’ve had with any iPhone (previous record was a 4S for nearly 3 years).

I’d say my decision leans more on being practical over minimal. On the flip side, nothing wrong with those who are upgrading and getting the most resale value out of their devices.
