The real divide in this country

I live uncomfortably close to London and remember when Greggs bought out all the local bakeries here. They pissed me off so much that I've never set foot in one of their shops. In the 1980s/early 90s we had a big bakery on the high street that just baked loads of bread and rolls on-site. The smell when you walked past was amazing and it wasn't a fancy place, it was just a straight-forward old-school bakery that baked bread and basic cakes and had some small bakeries around the local estates, but Greggs took them over, closed the big bakery and converted all of their shops into homogenised fluorescent strip-lit places that sold reheated pasties and sandwiches, so there was no option but to go to the supermarkets to buy bread.

The bakeries wouldn't have lasted, the recession in the 90s and the supermarkets would have killed them off eventually but even so, Greggs got in first. Fuck Greggs.
