Recruiting for Consulting? Post here for recruitment advice, resume reviews, questions about offers/firms or general insecurity (29)

Hey reddit consultants, I've had two interviews at a Big 4 for a consultant position after being introduced to them by a friend working there. After two days one of my interviewer contacted my friend to let him know that my profile and experience were very good for the position but that they were afraid I wasn't motivated enough. He assured them that I was and according to him they're thinking about giving me a second chance with a third interview but they might not even do it. After analysing what could have gone wrong, i think that what led them to think I wasn't motivated is that I have a very neutral tone when speaking even if I was highly motivated. I don't feel like waiting for a formal answer from them would be in my interest and I'm thinking about sending an email to my interviewer to show my motivation. Is that a good idea? What I'm wondering is if I should just thank him for the interview and tell him how motivated I am or if I should also acknowledge what I think was my mistake and assure them that I'll work on that.
