It seems that Activision's marketing department feels that microtransactions are the main draw of Call of Duty World War II

I managed to refund FM7 so I am doing my tiny part because I am really not a fan of the gambling boxes in the game. It is either you ignore it and grind more, or embrace the gambling to grind less which the gambling boxes are designed right into the game's economy. They are not "optional" as some people like to say, instead, they are right at the core of the progression. Additionally, due to the randomised nature of gambling boxes where most are designed to be unsatisfying if you open a handful, the unsatisfied feeling will eventually make the entire game felt unsatisfied to play. The gambling boxes cost credits to buy so it is slowing down your progress in a way as that 50k or 100k you spend periodically will add up eventually.

I also dislike the Speciality Shop in FM7 that is designed to provide artificial scarcity and brings no gameplay benefits with almost 100 cars are belongs to this category. However, a portion of them can be earned in the career while the other portion, hope you grind every day so that you have the credits to buy it when it appears temporarily on the Speciality Shop. Some of these cars can be expensive. Those with impulsive behaviour would certainly grab their credit cards for tokens microtrasactions to buy them if they could not afford it with in-game credits. It felt like a number of systems in the game is designed like a free to play game, except this one cost $60 at least.

I have Pcars 2, AC, R3E, AMS, Baja and so on other racing games on PC. I can play those instead that did not try to force loot boxes onto me. Heck, after FM7, I think R3E's microtrasactions model seemed really reasonable with 3-5 Euros per car or track because of the amount of quality and attention to detail they put in. Along with a decent support down the line with physics updates, art changes and so on, I remember one of the tracks, Moscow Raceway received an update when the real circuit built a noise barrier at a section of the circuit. Even older cars that was released years ago received updates till today.
