[Serious] Non-Americans of Reddit, what are you thinking and hearing regarding the protests/riots happening in the US, looking from the outside in?

Northern European/Scandinavian here. I'm horrified, frustrated, heartbroken and angry, but sadly not surprised.

I just discussed George Floyd's death and the protests with a redditor who seemed to view the whole thing primarily as a political question, as a left/right issue. That seemed strange to me. I see it a human rights violation that has very little to do with peoples' political affiliations. It's a human life lost.

I've been following the news pretty closely for the last few months, and I'm appalled by every new death or injury that's being reported. I can't fathom how someone would think all that violence would be justified in any way, and how the police can get away with killing and maiming peaceful protesters. I can't believe this is happening in a country that claims to be a democracy.
