[Serious] People who've seen a dead body outside of the normal situations (funeral, wake, mortuary worker...) - what's your story?

A group of friends, my father, and I were at a Walmart earlier in the morning. Around 11ish. I had just been taken by the police from my mothers abusive care and had no clothes where I was currently staying so they took me out to buy some after having a ‘fun day’. (It was kinda fun).

When we walked out we heard some screaming from behind the Walmart. My dad and one of my friends were in the car waiting for me and my other friend, since we went to the bathroom.

Being idiots, we went around to the back of the store to take a quick look after I texted my dad, “lot of people in the bathroom, be out soon”. My friend and I didn’t go complete to the back, in case it was bad, but we looked around the corner.

It was a Walmart employ, she was younger? Maybe around 17, standing over the what looked like decomposing body of a hiker. My friend quickly ran to the car but I stayed a little longer before running after her.

A few days later my friend sent me the news report about the body. The man that died went missing a few months ago. He was mentally disabled and got lost on a hike. They didn’t say how he died but they did say that the family was very sad over his death but was doing okay.
