Shaheen

The transition from a small school to the NFL im sure is tough, especially at TE. He has also been the #3 TE on the roster, so it's not surprising that he hasn't produced.

He actually has more snaps on Special Teams (118) than he has on offense (104) so he is at least contributing to the team, although I'm not sure how well he has performed on ST. 1 catch on 2 targets through 104 snaps is not great, but he hasn't needed to be great as we had Sims and Miller above him.

Now Miller was our main receiving TE with 20 catches on 35 targets and 2 td(should be 3) even though Sims outsnaps Miller 352 to 314. Sims will continue to get the most snaps as he is a blocking TE in a run heavy offense, and with his 9 catches on 18 targets, it's clear that Shaheen has a big gap to fill.

I'm sure Shaheen is still adjusting to the NFL, but at least he has had 8 games to get adjusted before being thrust into a prominent role on the offense. he also has a long week to prepare for, most likely, a bigger workload.

I definitely don't think there's a problem with him if he doesn't produce against the packers. He also provides a big body (6'6 278) for the red zone, so I would expect him to be probably our biggest red zone threat, although that could go to Inman.

Hopefully he can create some separation to give Trubisky some relief like Miller did. As Bigshowww pointed out, rookie TE's hardly produce amazingly during their first season. I wouldn't expect a ton from Shaheen, but he still has promise.
