You millionaires and billionaires
accumulate your treasured wares
magnificent manors, sparkling jewels, art that will apprise
everday grandeur overwhelms and saturates your eyes

I feel sorry for you and I feel sorry for me
It's not greed; it's tragedy

Who can learn appreciation
in an life of fabrication
immersed in culture of acceleration
moving forward sans destination

You're bombarded by treasures left and right
Taught the whole world is your birthright
You've no time to dwell on what you own
Vertu released a brand new phone

How could anyone learn to make do
When nothing's outside of your purview
So you hunger, for more and more
You stymie progress and foment war

You do this without inherent desire
to see the world go up in fire
But still the money must be made
So everyone else out there gets paid
You justify it day and night
What else is there; you must be right

We emulate you as best we can
and trust that you all have a plan
But you're as bankrupt as us masses
If you'd just remove your emerald glasses

You'd see just what you truly own
A human life: tears, blood, and bone
Then you'll feel life is unfair
Because like us you head nowhere
