A little? You knew exactly what you were getting into by making media creation a focus, at least on the internet.. (Or I really hope you did)

I mostly find out unreasonable for three reasons.. To start, the fact that it's a meme.. The very definition of which is

an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation.

The very definition of creating such a thing means that if done properly it would be shared..

So reason one behind my logic being, this is the internet.. A massive public domain for the exchange of information/products/conversation/Jokes.. The list goes on, upon creation you should have known very very well that if popular, if people like it.. It will spread, this is a given, and anyone with the slightest understanding of the modern internet knows this very very well

Reason two being.. You made this, and its not like someone is rehosting a comic you've spent years to build recognition for, it's a picture that is tied to a meme, quite a popular back in the day at that, and your link to the original was on deviantart, so it being rehosted, isn't hurting say.. AD revenue like it does with the guys who make cyanide and happiness.

And my last, and probably the most important reason being.. You put the time in to make this, you posted it online because you wanted people to see it, and now that it's running the course of an extremely popular creation on the internet, you're upset over that fact, it's clear that you wanted people to see this, and now that it's being shared throughout the most popular platforms on the internet you're upset that it's gaining the popularity you likely originally hoped for

If you want to be recognized as a creator, then it's time to step up, build a brand and get your own watermark on it. While it'll likely be removed down the road as with most things on the internet, it puts your name out there and gets people knowing the source.. But as it stands, it just looks like something someone slapped together for r/adviceanimals or r/funny, and that's not because it has those watermarks, that's because it's not a genuine original picture, its a mixture of a popular meme and a photograph, and as such, you should expect it to be treated that way.

You may look down on watermarks being on your picture.. But those watermarks and the fact you see it enough to bug you, means that you got exactly what you likely originally wanted, something up created exploded in popularity online, and you're the one person in this world who can sit there when they see this and do one of two things, get upset that it's making it's rounds, or appreciate the fact that it has gotten so incredibly popular, something you created, not anyone else.. Just you, that has made likely millions of people smile/laugh.
