Singapore will be jailing people for 6 months for holding a mobile phone while driving

Ok I'll bite. The ignorance is just too much to bear.

  • The punishment for smuggling gum into the country is a year in jail and a $5,500 fine.

No. Customs will just make you throw the gum away. You can bring in gum if it is for personal consumption.

  • mandatory caning policy for vandalism offenses. This applies to writing on public property as well as hanging banners, flags, pamphlets, or displaying anything on existing public property. Fines can include up to $2,000, between three to 8 strokes of the cane and up to three years in prison

If you've actually been here you'll know that banners, flags and pamphlets are displayed on lampposts all the time and they're like everywhere.

  • You can also be arrested for ... failure to flush the toilet.

No one has been convicted under this law.

  • You're not permitted to eat, drink, or breastfeed on the trains. Not even a sip of plain water.

Keeps the place clean. And with everything else do it but don't get caught. And I have no idea why anyone would have to breastfeed on the train. Train rides in Singapore are an hour long at most.

  • Unwanted touching, both violent or sexual, falls under the "Outrage of Modesty" law. Violations of this law can bring up to two years in prison, caning, or a fine.

Not sure about this.

  • Homosexuality is technically illegal in Singapore. The penalty is up to two years in prison but this is rarely prosecuted.

Sex between men is illegal. Being homosexual is not, if we want to be really technical.

  • Bringing porn into the country can carry a fine of up to $1,000 as well as imprisonment.

Not sure about this as well.

  • [Traveler to be caned for overstaying visa]

No. Deportation.

Law repealed. But seriously even if this is law who is going to enforce it?
