The only way I'm aware to escape this sociopathic trap is to reduce your consumerism as much as possible and to buy as local as possible (or however else you can best verify the labor standards used - but even that can be dangerous, as fairtrade has shown).

Upgrade my phone? I know slave labor was used somewhere along the line for that. Even my solar panels. I grow as much of my food as I can. I don't want someone else to have to suffer just to support my existence, when I could do it on my own and avoid contributing to violence (and coericion is violence). I don't care about my existence that much; let the slave fucking go.

If only it were as easy to fight this endemic form of slavery as it was to fight the corporeal slave owners of old.
