South Asian BMI Realization

Tbh my main focus is not my bmi, it's my waist size. And you're right that 7lbs doesn't always = 1 inch. I just came to the realization that 12 pounds away to the "normal bmi" weight is not gonna drop me 4.5 inches. And while I do agree it's probably not good to be so fixated on numbers I do think waist size is really important for south asians. We store a lot more fat in our mid section than white or black people, we also have a lot more visceral fat that makes us a lot more likely to have heart disease. In fact I think a lot of us South Asians are not focusing on waist size but instead of bmi or just their general weight which is a factor why so much of us have heart disease. My white doctor doesn't seem to grab the cultural and genetics factors in my life, maybe i should go see a south asian one.
