Stage 2: I travelled to London Euston on a ticket left by a kind traveller. To keep this going, I've left an open return to Birmingham New Street blu-tacked under this seat (valid from 2017/12/19 10:49)!

Pretty certain national rail have to much to worry about with fare dodgers than people who are traveling on a paid ticket.

Hmm. You're no doubt right about why the rules exist (there'd be issues with touts as well given that you can often buy tickets earlier at a cheaper price than on the day - ergo I could buy a bunch of them and sell them on the day)

Nevertheless I'm sure you'd find the rules technically make this illegal under the same terms and that's all I said - the truth. Hence the downvotes I guess. Not a subreddit full of intellectually honest people eh?

If someone gets nicked while you're entertaining yourselves with this don't complain especially not if you think ticket inspectors / traffic wardens etc have better things to do. You've probably never come across them before if you imagine they are reasonable people.
