Stripe lays off 14% of staff

Was planning a wedding, got let go the day after I put in for PTO, 3 weeks befire the wedding. We had a baby on the way. And I was worried about taking too much time for a very short honeymoon because we seemed so busy at work. I was hoping once the product launched I could ask for a raise because I had been there 4 years and wages were incredibly low and stagnant. My supervisor told me he let me go because this was the only way I'd get a raise. In a way, he was right. But we blew through our savings, had a delivery paying healthcare out of pocket with no income. It was terrifying. Started the next job the day after we went home from the hospital and I went right to work because we desperately needed the money.
