Apple's Director of Machine Learning Resigns Due to Return to Office Work

So I can speak to "who decides to WFH and who doesnt"

Back in 2021..? It all bleeds together: my senior director said anyone who works in his department would have to go in, literally everyone else could work from home.

It appeared to be a department by department thing and he was the only one who was forcing people to go in.

On top of all that? He was working remotely in a state that with a much lower cost of living.

This... lead to some ruffling feathers and upset employees once we found out that we were the only department being forced to go in.

This lead to a department wide AMA, with him AND his direct superior being there to answer questions.

We pretty much bombarded him with questions alluding to the fact that it felt pretty damn rich that he got to live in a cheaper state and made his peons go on and the ENTIRE company was remote.

Shortly after they said everyone can WFH
