Study: Universe May Have Had No Beginning At All

I have a counter example I guess. The people pushing vegetarianism way back in the day recommended to the agriculture community (without any evidence) to create low-cholesterol eggs and that we should all be limiting our cholesterol to "the equivalent of about one egg a day." There was no media push, it was a government bureaucracy pushing it. I'm referring to Senator George McGovern's committee where they pushed a vegan or vegetarian diet (I can't remember which) and demonized cholesterol.

I'd say the egg flip-flops in the zeitgeist haven't been the media's fault at all. The media are spoon fed dumb policies based on Cargo Cult Science and in many cases are simply going to follow their marching orders on what to report and how to do so.

And of course the government quietly changed their minds about cholesterol without any apology for the damage they caused. Lines 642 through 646 in this year's report. I've seen some media coverage but not near the amount of fear-mongering about cholesterol that was pushed for 40+ years. Everyone everywhere said stuff like "Beware of the Artery Clogging Saturated Fats!! because they contain cholesterol!! which will clog your arteries!!"

Cholesterol. Previously, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommended that cholesterol intake be limited to no more than 300 mg/day. The 2015 DGAC will not bring forward this recommendation because available evidence shows no appreciable relationship between consumption of dietary cholesterol and serum cholesterol, consistent with the conclusions of the AHA/ACC report. Cholesterol is not a nutrient of concern for overconsumption.

Why anyone would listen to the media or their government for nutrition advice really makes me insane.
