I understand perfectly well. Almost every horrible, sadistic person has had a spectrum of negative factors that have influenced who they have become.

There just seems to be a weird strain of fetishization/infantilization/romanticization/empathy (whatever you want to label it as) for groups like ISIS and Taliban that you don't usually ever see for other similarly despicable people/groups.

This thread for example is littered with comments about how good-looking, adorable, cute, funny they are, how they look fun to hang out with and they're just poor kids etc. or shit cutesy jokes.

I can't really empathise with guys that are now going door to door rounding up child sex slaves, and will be merrily torturing and murdering women and gay people for the indefinite future.
