Texas Senate approves bill allowing Texans to carry guns for week after natural disasters: report

This is a good law. Having just had a horrible past week here in Oklahoma with tornados nearly every day, constant storms, a river that is threatening to flood my city for the first time in over 30 years, we finally lost power in the middle of the night when another tornado scooted by and took out power lines for a couple miles.

The authorities are stretched way too thin at the moment, you can definitely feel it. They've been busy for days patrolling neighborhoods that have evacuated due to flooding and are working full time in road closures and checking houses and rescuing people all because of the flood threats, now they also have all the extra burden due to the tornado. Even with the national guard's help, everyone knows deep down that you'll have to fend for yourself for a while should anything come up. Last night when the area lost power we noticed a handful of random cars at different times driving up and down the streets, a couple cars with their lights off. This is just not a good time to not have a weapon with you if you have any common sense.
