How often could this possibly happen? What kind of plat / diamond player would even WANT to play with a bronze in ranked?

Hell I'm technically bronze and not even I will duoQ with my legit bronze friends because they are so bad at the game. I play normals and arams with them but as soon as they mention ranked it's off the table.

The only time it makes sense for a high ranking player to DuoQ with a low ranking player is for boosting purposes, or trolling, but a troll is going to troll no matter what, he'll just change his way of trolling.

It can't be fun for the bronze player either. Getting absolutely shit on all game long and going 0/15/6. I just cannot see it being as big of a problem as you're claiming it was. Definitely not a big enough issue for Riot to create a whole system to stop it.

The other problem with the system is that it has no leeway. There are always exceptions to everything. There will always be a small percentage of Bronze / Silver players that are skilled enough to belong in a higher league, but don't have the time to play the game non-stop and rank up over 50+, 75+ games. Just like how there will always be a small percentage of high ranking players that constantly get carried by their teammates and get to a higher rank than they truly deserve.

This system does not take into account these exceptions and treats all Bronze players, Silver players, Gold players, etc. like they are the exact same skill (separated by sub leagues of course).

It would be simple enough to put in a small grace period of say 5-10 games, where lower ranked players can duo with higher ranked players. If the lower ranked player feeds and has terrible CS every game (or the majority of them) then give that player the current restrictions that are set for everyone for the rest of the season. But if that player happens to rise to the occasion and fights on equal footing with the higher ranked players, then why stop him? Everyone should at least be given a chance to prove they can play at a higher level without having to pour hours and hours into climbing out of Bronze.
