Those of you who got married at the courthouse, did you regret it?

Don't regret it one bit. We got married in our living room (our state is odd). He got a cheap ceramic ring because of his job and I got a thin gold band. We paid just under $400 for rings, a white dress for me, the officiant, and dinner that night. Its been almost 3 years, no regrets. I'm exactly like you, I don't care to be in the center of attention and we didn't want to spend money.

A friend did take professional photos for us, which I do cherish. I sent out photo cards that said, "We got married!" And included the professional photo in it.

The following summer, we had a party at his parents place. We rented a tent, table and chairs, and had a pig roast. Our parents paid for it. We felt a small bit of pressure from our family to "do something" for our wedding and our parents were kind enough to pay for the reception. And it was nice, a way for us to introduce our spouses to extended parts of our family that we don't frequently see. My husband really enjoyed the reception and I can hear in his voice he was glad we did it when he talks about it.

So yes, I cherish the intimacy of our living room. But photos and a reception months later were also nice.
