TIL: More cops in the USA died from suicide than any other cause in 2017

Another fun fact. I was pulled over a few years ago and 2 officers came at me with weapons drawn (one from each side of the vehicle). And once they saw me (again white dude, obviously not poor) they holstered their weapons and apologized. Apparently a vehicle similar to mine had been reported stolen by a 3rd party, but the person who witnessed it didn't catch the plate number... and so they pulled me over (imho, justified). But once they saw me they let me go without running my plate or even requesting to see my ID or registration.

They didn't even verify I owed the vehicle, and the only conclusion I can draw is "white guy in a button-down shirt that probably cost more than my uniform driving a 60k vehicle... seems legit". Which is obviously bullshit.

So, again, probable racial profiling, but they SHOULD have run my plate + ID... they just didn't.

In no reasonable system is "a grey Toyota Tundra was stolen" a reason to threaten someone with death who happens to be driving one in the area.

Another incident(s): I've been stopped every time I go to one of my African American's house for over a decade. It's like clockwork, until I bought my new truck. The area is nicknamed "40 nigger hill" because how many people live there, and their ethnicity... circa 1950. There has never been a single drug bust on the hill since I started paying attention in the 90s. But if the cops stake out every entrance and exit and if they you drive up there in a car that's newer than the 90s and they can find a single infraction (my last was one of of my two license plate lights being out) they'll pull you over and insist on a full vehicle search as it's a "known drug den"... if you don't consent they'll call in the k9 that they then tell to "hit").

Since I've been wealthy enough to hire lawyers to try to fuck them I've been visiting my friend as much as possible trying to engender a lawsuit where I can fuck them, but apparently there's a cutoff. I've rolled passed them with no headlights, with no license lights, no lights on at all, etc. Things I should have obviously been ticketed for anyway... but I think I might just need an older car.

I don't know what they're fishing for, but basically everyone on that hill is family, and I know most all of them. There isn't drug trading, they're just focusing on the minority, AFAICT.
