Nice! I have a cabin in the remote woods, on a 10 acre parcel with a creek. I'm planning on selling my house and moving up there full time in the next couple of years. I have clean mountain stream water available 365 days a year (passed all the purity tests, but we filter it and treat it anyway) and I currently have 500W of solar panels set up. I have 700W more that haven't been assembled on their frames, along with a spare charge controller. Planning a 50 foot communications tower for ham radio, with a homemade wind turbine on top. If I get really enthusiastic, planning a micro-hydro system in the creek. With solar, wind, and hydro power, I'm pretty set for off grid living all 4 seasons. The land up there is pretty poor for farming, so I am going to do an aquaponics/hydroponics setup for food. Plenty of woods for firewood for heat, cooking, and heating water. I currently have a propane shower, but looking to stay entirely off grid. Need to put together a wood fired hot tub.

Looking to share ideas with like minded people. I wonder if there is a subreddit for folks like us who are actually doing it and not just talking about it.
