I could forgive a regular person for making this mistake. If you don't live near there, you're likely not familiar with the geography and a person would logically believe that a place called Kansas City is in the state of Kansas.

But if the POTUS doesn't know that Kansas City is actually in Missouri, it just highlights how little he actually cares about your state that he can't even be bothered to do the smallest amount of research to avoid looking stupid in front of the entire nation.

Now I'm imagining Trump congratulating the great state of Alaska for the 49'ers' victory, because he saw 49 in the name and assumed it was because they're the 49th state.
