This Turkish bride and groom chose their wedding banquet to serve food to 4,000 Syrian refugees instead of throwing a lavish reception party for the guests

I typically work with disadvantaged young people in my community by helping them get into college and obtain scholarships. Sometimes these kids parents aren't legal. This has lead me to working with illegals obtaining the proper documents to stay in the country. It also lead me to a local project that is documenting and recording experiences of individuals who have gotten out of ICE facilities. These experiences are being compiled nationwide to use as lawsuits against the government and human rights violations. I have helped interview and record 23 different experiences that are quite horrific and shocking enough that we should want to raid these facilities as individual citizens. I make sure I speak out against injustices within this country.

When you sit in a classroom and watch students come in one day and are gone the next because they were detained or deported you develop some sort of conscience. I have a full time job and a part time job that pay me. I have another full time job that allows me to give to my community and help those that need it.

It's not much but it's the best I can do. I wish I could do more.
