UPDATE: I [21M] bought my girlfriend [21F now] her Ferrari. Roller-coaster of emotions.

If the dealership already has the car (a used car or it's in stock)

Well, that's the thing. Other than pre-purchased stock to the dealers (which are sold once the order confirmation is in years ahead of them arriving) there aren't any new Ferraris just sitting on the lot. Any lot. Go look at any Ferrari dealership—go ahead, I'll wait. Find a new Ferrari someone can just walk in and purchase. There aren't any. That's what Maseratis are for.

Definitely not a Speciale. You don't buy a Ferrari (especially a special) in one day. Sure there are FFs and Californias on the lot but if you want to buy a "real" Ferrari and you haven't before, you're going to be buying whatever they will sell you on the lot. At that point, you are a few years and a few Ferraris away from a hot car like the Speciale. At the point you've purchased your "Oh-ok-I-guess-I'll-buy-it-'new'-2013-California" and repeated this a few times, you could then express interest in a special and if Ferrari wants you in their club, you will get the opportunity to make an offer on a future late-model.

But this is a used car right? The game is different! Not really. You are going to check the history on the car, have it inspected, make an offer, if at a Ferrari dealer (which it probably is for a Speciale) they are going to talk to Italy. Want a Mondial? Or a 328, 348 or a Testarossas (these are getting more rare now—good investment if you have the means and opportunity) sure, you can walk in buy it and drive out with a car. But those are not the Ferrari that we are talking about.

There is no way to walk in and buy a 2014 458 Italia Speciale. Whoever got this car originally was a regular Ferrari customer, most probably a driver in the Challenge Series and waited for 4 years to take delivery. That is why there are only 4 458 Italia Speciale on the market in the US right now. None of them are in the $200K range as OP mentions elsewhere and they are not going to be easy buys. All of them are listing in $380K-1M and rising. Unless OP is secretly a first round draft pick, he's not the kinda guy who can buy a Speciale—an old 328? Sure!

If the knucklehead OP had chosen a Lamborghini in this make believe story, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. And what does any of this have to do with relationship advice? This seems more appropriate for a subreddit with child psychologists.

I'd say this is a solid case of pics or didn't happen.
