In the wake of Fyre Festival, what is your own terribly planned event horror story?

My sister's bridal shower was poorly planned. It was in the home of a 19 year old woman married to a 40 something man. (Yeah, I know. They were friends with my sister & her boyfriend). Their entire living room was a shit load of wedding photos on every wall, 1 Minions poster & nothing else. The husband was supposed to leave the house, but he decided to stay, parade his friends through "to help clean my office" & occasionally make passive aggressive, bullying comments to his wife about not wanting to leave or have the shower there in the first place. Oh boy, he sounded like a keeper! My sister's MIL provided most of the food. It was make your own sandwiches (think Arnold bread & cold cuts). Just really random, because our side of the family expects some sort of tea party-ish shower, with cute desserts & things like that. The pace of the party was awkward. The hostess would announce one game & then we'd have to sit around chatting for a really long time until she announced the next one.
