Weekly Question Thread (11/23/2020 to 11/29/2020)

Hey I’m not sure if this is the best place to put this but figured it would be worth a shot. Anyways, a friend of mine just joined the army and is currently waiting in quarantine down at Fort Benning in Georgia. He went through MEPS and thought he would be fine but he has Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EOE). He originally went without his meds and thought he would be fine but he shortly felt it beginning to effect him again. Is that an automatic disqualification? Is there any chance he will be able to sign a waiver and stay in the army? If he is unable to continue what is the discharge process for being sent home? He already talked to some people on base and was given his perscription until they get his full medical records faxed to base in order to review his case and decide if he can stay or not. Does him being on perscription meds get him sent home sooner since it could be a liability? Or will he be on base longer? How does the discharge process even work? What do you even have to if you get discharged? Thank you in advance!
