WEEKLY RECRUITING THREAD - Ask here about the recruiting process, trade availability, requirements to join, and other common questions about the Canadian Armed Forces.

Being a reservist is a pretty good go, especially for students. Compared to the RegF, some things are going to be a lot more slack for reservists, simply because there's only so much you can get done when you work three hours a week and sometimes weekends. Also, because so much training is decentralized and run in-house instead of at a school, there can be some variance in the level of training.

However, strictly looking at the Reserve world, you can get a lot done. There are plenty of opportunities for a switched on reservist who is willing and able to put in the effort.

The only way to know for sure if it's for you is to try. You can release from the Reserve force at any time, so if it's not for you, no harm, no foul.
