Welding Burn to the Eyes

So I wake up this morning, and my daughter sends me photos of my SIL getting loaded into an Ambulance and said "serious burns on his eyes from welding without a helmet on yesterday" I dont know alot about alot of things, but I do I know what a dumb move that was. (they dont live with me) I want to know from anyone who has experienced this, what the recovery (if any :'( ) time was. I should mention that he got discharged, last night as well, so they would have kept him in if really bad? They were up at 4am, so its not even lunch time here, so they are sleeping, so not answering paranoid Mum. Thanks for any input. Please dont attack me for the stupid no helmet. I had no idea he was doing it, or would have proverbially kicked his butt for even thinking about it.
