What is the funniest/coolest story your grandparents/parents have ever told you about their life?

My great grandmother grew up as a little girl in Berlin during World War II. To start off she is still alive. She once told me a story about her having to go to the store to get food and supplies but on her way she saw people walking with meats and other food items away from the shopping center. When her and one of her sisters arrived there was an un exploded bomb dropped through the roof. They took whatever they could and went home. She never heard it happen but the next day the entire building was destroyed.

Another time I was talking to her about my sister's volley ball camp (which she had helped paid for) and she transitions over to (I once spent 13 months in a camp somewhere in what is now Poland. It's not what you're all thinking, it wasn't a concentration camp but a camp for German children to be sheltered from the war. She didn't talk a whole lot about it but told me she was playing baseball and accidentally hit another girl in the face with a bat.

The last story I'll pass on right now is a bit of a sad one. My great grandmother is the 4th out of 6 children. Her brother, was drafted into the nazi army and this is where I usually stop to tell people, no my great great uncle was not a nazi, he was forced, he was a German soldier not a nazi. But anyway he was in Siberia and his group was retreating but his leg was injured to the point where he couldn't keep up so they abandoned him in the snow with just a pistol, there's no knowing if this is what actually happened because my great grandmother never saw him again and this is what her family was told.
