What were some "red flags" that caused you to leave a job before the sh*t hit the fan? Did you escape on time?

Red flags: We (management team) brought on a big new team with maybe a little more entitlement than needed. Executive Director was having trouble making decisions and she also had a major transparency issue. Board suddenly became interested in the success of the org and instituted a strategic plan. Strategic plan unearthed many major organizational issues.

Executive Director had a horrible accident (luckily recovered over years) and went radio silent during her recovery.

Founder came in and made empty promises in the meantime. Particularly entitled employee started underground uprising while new manager with little experience vied for ED spot. I finally got founder to put an external interim ED in place and she began to strategically turn all staff against each other. At this point I got out quickly.

After, there was significant emotional/ verbal abuse from interim ED toward staff.

Today, all new staff except the employee who led the uprising. Ironically org structure, programs etc said employee had issue with haven’t changed.
