What's the shittiest thing an employer has ever done to you?

Things were bad, really low amount of work, we knew we were going to be fired. We receive a call from the boss to go the hq and then the guy from HHRR tells us that we're fired but they'll contact us back again if things get better, to sign here and there and all that stuff. I check the papers and it says 0 euros of settlement, and after working there for 6 years I was pretty sure I was entitled for a settlement, so I decide not to sign there and left straight away.

Called a lawyer, they told me I was entitled to at least 2/2.5k euros. Nice. The lawyer sends a letter to the company asking for it and they called me back a few days later saying that they are not going to pay me because they "are not used of doing so", the fuck? It's the law!. Yeah, yeah, the law, but they didn't want to pay anyway. So we ended up suing them. This was in late 2013, I'm still waiting.

At least I wasn't stupid, but they've done MUCH worse things, and by 'much worse' I mean things that have a really good potential of ruining the lives of the employees. They knew they did have to start getting rid of people because of the low amount of work, but the way the law was in Spain, if you've to fire someone who has been with you for 20 years you would have to pay A TON of money to that person, which could be close to 20k.

They started to call up people like that to the offices, telling them things were bad but they did have work in a different company they own but for them to offer that job you need to quit your job -and receive no settlement-, otherwise they would end up being fired and everything. A few employees were really stupid and did quit the job, signed the new contract and as soon as they signed the new contract they got fired, getting NOTHING in return. Absolutely NOTHING.
