When you respond to someone in Trade, and they get so mad they send you mail.

I am from Quebec from first generation immigrants. I am not a French Canadian from France, but try to see their point of view for a second:

  • The official chief of state is the Queen aka, the symbol of their oppressor and conqueror. It`s not really nice to live under the reign of someone else who repeatedly tried to squash your culture and language and way of life. What are the French Canadians supposed to do? Cheer for the people who killed their family and took part of their land?

  • You think the rest of Canada is friendly with Quebec? Read any newspaper from the ROC and see the daily Quebec Bashing going.

  • Quebec is its own micro country in a much larger country. Quebec does not share any pop culture reference/celebrities/artists/traditions with the ROC. The food is different, the architecture is different the freaken national holidays are different. Quebec celebrate much different historical figures.

  • You say that "they have also tried multiple times to be separated into their own country". Wouldn't you want to be governed by your own people? And FYI, hang out on /r/alberta and see that there are FAR more Albertans that want Quebec to gtfo than Quebecers that want to separate. I am willing to bet my kidney that if a referendum were to happen tomorrow, the separatists wouldn't get more than 35% of votes.

  • The only time that ROC ever says anything nice about Quebec is during Olympics because a significant portion of medals come from Quebec athletes, and only then are they celebrated as Canadian.

  • I can already hear you say: "But Quebec would be nothing today without Canada's help". Ok. Maybe. Maybe not. Who can tell what will happen in 50-100 years? Some Quebecers want to separate and whatever the consequences of that decision, good or bad, they will at least be the masters of their own future.
