Who ARE the terrible autotuned mainstream hip hop pop singers on the radio in Target and in every jerk's car?

Hi, a person who is using autotune isn't singing. Obviously. But that's semantics.

Two. I'm not so bold as to say that autotune in and of itself will make music bad. But oh man does the music I was describing in the original post have horrible autotune.

Three. You fucking don't know anything about anything. Your entire fucking argument is that things are good just because you say they are, but there is-- for example-- a world of people who have careers being movie critics or making filmmaking essays or actually filming movies who have more belief in objective good and bad in film than seemingly the entire uneducated masses combined have. And they're right. You may think that sounds stupid, but that's because you haven't experienced that interest-- that's because you. Don't. Know. Anything.

That's the problem with you and everyone else in this country. Anti-intellectualism. You think your uneducated opinion is equal to the opinions of people who are very enthusiastic and therefore at least moderately-experienced and knowledgeable with things.

You like music? Okay, whatever. I actually spend time talking about the little details that make up the music, comparing and contrasting, attaching it to experiences. I write music and have been writing music since I was a little kid. I fucking know what mentality or maturity people have to be in to make certain decisions when they're writing it. I know what "lame" or "lazy" or "forced" or "quaint" in music is, and it's objective. "Wow, 'Smoke on the Water' is baby's first chords. This is one of many examples as to why 70s rock in particular just does not hold up. I would have done that stupid shit when I was 10."

I don't care if many people like something in music, that doesn't make it good. It's good if it functions, if it does the thing it was attempting to do. If Backstreet Boys' lyrics are so bad that they pull adults out of the experience-- and they do-- then they're bad. No matter how many teenagers are too inexperienced and/or mindless to notice they're bad.

You don't fucking know what "subjectivity" applies to, you just fucking think people aren't allowed to be right because that means others are wrong. That's the world now. Fuck the world.
