Witnesses: Several people shot at church in Sutherland Springs

it baffles me and makes me even more vigilant about my gun rights. These politicians are hell bent to take guns away from the good people thinking that this will magically end gun violence.

I agree that taking guns away will not magically end gun violence, but "being more vigilant about my gun rights" whenever someone says something uninformed/ stupid is steering towards conflict in stead of resolution and is not helping the problem. Your president says dumb things all the time. My prime minister says dumb things every now and then, and many other politicians in my country say dumb things all the time as well. I agree that politicians who try to make a law based on wrong information should be reprimanded, sometimes even sacked, because they really should fucking know better-- it's their job to be informed on the subject.

HOWEVER, Senator Kevin de Leon might have had certain important facts wrong, you are missing the point he is trying to make, and I feel you are missing the point I'm trying to make here as well by focusing on the details I got wrong. I know I'm not a gun expert. You won't hear me say "we should ban this exact gun" because I don't know enough about guns. But my point still stands that in the US, citizens seem to able to legally get their hands on semi-automatic weapons that nobody needs in a residential area.

Personally I have 7 AR's of different configuration and time periods. I mostly collect surplus/military style and 90's gang banger movie guns.

Well it's a shame if you would have to give it up but it's just a hobby. If it helps preventing shootings (and yes, only IF), why would you hold on to your guns? Because you like them? Because it's a free country? You don't live in a free country. Try doing some LSD while solliciting a prostitute, see how free your country is. And the same in my country: some things are prohibited or at least controlled because it serves the greater good.

We can always do better as long as better doesnt violate the Constitution.

Yeah I hear that a lot, having your constitution as something holy, and although it's a good thing to hold it in high regard, it can really obstruct progress if you see it as holy. As an example of why the US constitution is not written in stone: I live in a country that has a different constitution as you guys and we are doing fine. And your own government has amended the constitution many, many times. It's just a set of rules some guys thought up a long time a go. You can and should change it if it is an improvement.
