[WP] A demon, with the ability to grow stronger by absorbing souls, is terrorizing nearby cities. You are the only one who can stop him, because you have the very same ability.

Part two:

I was rooted to the spot. Like a mouse before a snake, waiting for the slightest indication of movement. Neither of us moved, the silence continued to build like a wave, growing more daunting by the second. Then he spoke.

"I have always wondered what the reaction would be of a fish that learns it is not the biggest thing in the pond. The look on your face is a sight that I will treasure for many years." He talked with a wry smile on his face, savouring every moment of this encounter, all the while his eyes showed no change from their merciless stare.

"Well this is a first." He remarked, but he made no gestures or micromovements, as if he were reading from a script rather woodenly.

"Normally anyone who crosses my path is screaming, scheming, or trying to kill me. Now you might be doing one of those soon enough, but I must thank you for having the manners for accepting dialogue." At this point he gave a polite bow, and I had to fight the urge to flinch. He then gave pause, as if to think of his next line.

"No response? My my you flatter me sir. Of course I could stop playing coy and address the elephant in the 'room'." He gestured to the space around us, his posture and manner moving in response to his speech, as if he was relaxing in the company of a friend. But the menace in his eyes made it look like a mockery of human behaviour.

"Well judging by your build and grave-like silence I would say that your currenlty wrestling with that crude 'instinct' you humans place so much stock in. That's not just an assumption, I can here your heart pounding from here, no wonder you were made with such crude sensory organs." His manner melted from jovial to that of a lecturer explaining something, the intonation in his voice not impatient, but clearly showing signs of boredom with the topic.

"But I must admit, you clocked the eyes very quickly. Still I imagine your feeble mammalian brain is still trying to process most of that information, I did always feel that Father missed a trick with your processing speed for sensory information. Then again you were built to fail." A smile formed on his face, but it was one of satisfaction at the demise of an opponent, so it was bordering on twisting into a leer at any moment.

"Ah but maybe I'm being uncharitable. After all you were never really supposed to meet creatures such as I. Our encounter is like a solitary krill piquing the interest of a shark. We may occupy the same space, but our respective interests should not overlap in any way. After all your existence is so inconsequential to mine that I should have no need to waste time and energy on acknowledging you. If anything you should have the good sense to keep well away from me." His features shifted once more, now a predatory grin bored down on me, complementing the evil in his eyes.

"But you vermin always find some way to squirm into the limelight, never content with what you have, always pestering, whining, taking. It's small wonder so few of you find your way to His side."
