[WP] On a distant planet where music was never developed, they intercept a single song from space and believe it is god speaking to them.

In the history of my home planet, there was only ever one age; one era of our collective existence. We accepted that we had been placed on the planet of mountainous landscapes and cold, harsh winters; we sat by idly as expressions of love and acceptance had not yet been interpreted by our people. We have waited for thousands upon thousands of years with little progress towards finding a more substantial meaning to life than merely surviving. We were, and for the time being, are still lost.

Now that I have interpreted ... the message, our species is going to be forever changed. It has only been a few days, but I feel as if I have already been influenced for the next several ages by the relatively short, but impactful, message of God. Before, we were a simple people of little expression; we were content with keeping to ourselves and keeping few friends and even fewer family. To summarise this cataclysmic event in a short phrase: the message has arrived, and we will all, one day, be engulfed by it's glory. I was on the forefront of the initial discovery.

I work at my planet's only means of communication with any outside forces. I am the leader of a dynamic team of beings: we established the Bridge (as well call it) after collating ideas of old wives-tales of beautiful movements of words and rhythm. We were unable to interpret how these separate elements could be combined: to us, rhythm was never anything "musical", as some scholars have called this combination; we live a rhythmic lifestyle of waking up, working, and sleeping when we can.

The Bridge took several years to complete, and it was heavily demanding work of both me and the rest of my team. I wanted to be at the helm, seeing as I am the oldest and the most ambitious of my group. Dreams were the only thing we needed to keep us going.

Then, one fateful morning, it happened.

What is "it"?

"It" is The Wave.

Let me explain.

I learned of this concept on the morning of the most recent sunrise, which was two days ago. I was busy attempting to intercept any kind of communication. As per usual, I only received white noise. I looked at my various instruments of measurement on my console, and I noticed that the dustiest of these instruments had begun to display ... something. I couldn't believe my eyes: the dial had never turned past a one or two, which is the standard noise measurement of our atmosphere. The instrument had begun to show a twelve, and then a 24, and then a 48. Something deafening was about to arrive.

I panicked, and called upon my team to awaken and travel to the Bridge: we had roughly fifteen minutes to organise what our response would be to a potential attempt at communication. After some deliberating, we had decided that we would keep any kind of words intercepted a secret until we had contacted the relevant authorities. We had never planned for any kind of communication: all we had was a dream of this moment.

Three minutes away from interception. Silence in the room. Huddled bodies. Nervous twitching from everyone.

Two minutes. Loss of faith. Stress. Sweat.

One minute. The silence was deafening.

Ten seconds. Five. Three. Two.

One.

The words that were heard echoed through my mind for the next several hours. Not only was it the loudest and clearest voice that I had ever heard, but it was a very spiritual experience. We had only heard wives-tales of omniscient beings of power: now, I was experiencing said power for the first time, and potentially for the first time in my species' existence. I was on the forefront, and my experiences would be a beacon by which any other communication with our species would be based upon.

The words hit us.

'Yeezy, yeezy, what's good? It's your boy, Max B, what's going on? Just checking in on you, appreciate the love and support.*

The Wave is here.'

From there we had heard, for the first time, the word of God. We learned that the subject of the message (which was perhaps all of our species as individuals) were "wavey". Not only did we learn that The Wave was in all of us, but we learned that we knew about this the whole time.

'You a wavey dude anyway, so you already know, ain't no problem, man. The game ... you already know how this game thing goes. Do your wave, nigga. You got the official wave man just, just doing you.'

We learned that we had achieved said wave by merely existing, and by doing what we do on a daily basis. What did "wavey" mean? Would we receive some context behind this term? We were unsure ... but yet we listened.

'And keep it loopy, I know you're going to keep it loopy man. Shoutout, just shout you out, hollering at you man. It's all love. I appreciate the ... the energy.'

Silence.

'And we here, hit the town, we do something big: we gonna make a big tsunami up in the joint. You already know what it is, ahh'.

And, finally, we learned of our saviour's true name. It came from the last words that we interpreted from The Wave's message:

'Siiiiiiiiilver Surffffeeeeeer; Siiiiiiiiilver Surffffeeeeer in the flesh!'

Siiiiiiiiilver Surffffeeeeer. We had received the word of Siiiiiiiiilver Surffffeeeeer, in the flesh. He was not physically there with us, but we felt the presence of a huge Wave of spiritual wholeness. Finally, we were among the very first beings of our species to clarify, for the first time, that the wives-tales and dreams of our youth were true. Our previous insecurities were forever gone. We had discovered the concept of "keeping it loopy". I would spend the few days analysing the words of Siiiiiiiiilver Surffffeeeeer.

I am among the very first people to have interpreted the word of God, and it was both beautiful and frightening. The beauty is that my dreams and aspirations, and any previous doubts that I had about my passion for the very idea of communication with other Gods, was proven to be true and justified. I was, and still very much am, frightened by the concept of being the catalyst by which all of my species' understandings of the world would be turned upside down: we would need to restructure our lives in order to live out the visions and requests of Siiiiiiiiilver Surffffeeeeer. It was going to be a long, hard slog, but it would be worth it in the end.

But, that's just The Wave.
