YSK that the reason people sometimes drive cautiously is because they may have precious cargo and not because they’re old or too cautious.

My pet peeve from the UK motorways is very similar, people don't know how to merge at all.

Like the "on ramp" is super long for a reason.. if traffic is busy you can just drive alongside the traffic and find a gap to merge into whilst matching speed... no big deal right?

In practice people just freak out and the very first moment they get alongside the other lane and see moving cars - panic sets in and they slam their indicator on and come to a dead stop, then sit there for minutes waiting for a huge gap to open up... big enough that they can accelerate from 0mph up to 40mph or whatever without being rear-ended.

All the while they're blocking the entire ramp behind them so no one else can proceed until they've got their head out of their arse. And many times the person behind them copies them, because many people on our road don't really know how to drive and if in doubt they just copy the person in front of them when they get confused. It's really frustrating.
