16-year-old who distributed his teacher’s nude pics faces felony charges

You can't use archaic technology to try and explain current technology. Saying photos in a briefcase isn't the same as a phone. You can't accidentally unlock a phone and "spill" photos onto the ground.

My analogy is fine. The problem is that you've blatantly changed a key detail that was inconvenient for you. I specifically compared accessing a phone without permission to accessing a briefcase without permission. You changed this to being about accidentally dropping photos. That wasn't the analogy.

Putting physical photos into a briefcase would imply a willingness to purposefully bring those photos onto school grounds.

Putting digital photos into a phone and bringing that phone into a school is an obvious willingness to bring pornography onto school grounds.

The simple fact is people almost solely rely on their phone for a myriad different things in their lives: communication device, storage medium, PDA, etc.

Irrelevant.

A better analogy would be if the teacher had her students standing outside of her unlocked home and walked around the corner for 5 minutes. If one of the students decided, "Hey I should enter her home and steal something" we wouldn't even think about her not locking the door.

This is a horrible analogy. You've taken both the school and the woman's capacity and responsibilities as a teacher out of the equation. You aren't even remotely close to discussing the same topic at this point.

NEITHER is a good analogy

No, mine was on point. Yours was utter garbage.

but that's the problem with technology.

It doesn't matter how she brought pornography into the school. The fact is that she did so willingly and purposefully.
