I [31f] with my husband [38m] of 7 years, how do I get him to understand that I prefer experiences over material gifts?

I have been absolutely crystal clear. I am on the autism spectrum, me trying to hint/dance around topics is not something I am capable of.

I also am genuinely excited when I first get these toys, I am not going to lie. I think the are great until I get to the logistics of them. They are high end figures that require a lot of space; you need to keep the boxes for things like articulated hands and feet.

When I realized this, I flat out told him as much. I let him know I loved the thought he put into them, but I would enjoy the trips/experiences more.

I also pointed out that I buy permanent items on trips, but for some reason they don't seem to count to him.
