I'm not really asking about how to get rid of it. Simply not having this in my possession anymore wouldn't really solve the issue I'm having in itself, even if I could avoid upsetting my sister. I didn't really ask anything so maybe it's my fault for being unclear.

I guess what I'm more looking for views about is how to cope with this feeling of guilt that I would be wasting this nice thing my sister has made for me, as well as how to approach suggesting an alternate use without hurting her feelings (such as having it live at the family cottage).

Some suggestions people have made for storing and potential ways I might be able to make use of it have been helpful.
