Not to sound all Noam Chomsky about it, but I can’t help but suspect there’s an important social utility for being able to cast blame on someone. And suspect that it’s not genuinely desired that they actually are able to be supported sufficiently in the manner of something like a civil work program.

You know, nevermind that there’s not literally 325 million individual job positions available for the 325 million individual people in this country. Obviously it’s a reasonable expectation that they, like... use their empty bank accounts to start their own businesses? Yeah, that’s what they should all do! Bootstrap it!
