America's favorite cable company installed a new box in our office. I have no idea why they have customer service issues.

having been a cable guy. This is how mounted TV situations go.

They dont provide you a mount, thats why the box is designed to sit on a TV stand. If you want something attached to your wall that isnt cable related, you will need to do that yourself, and plan ahead.

9 times out of 10 the first things aid to the cable guy in this situation is "i want it hidden" - then when we cut you the longer chord, you, like the idiot you may be call back in and bitch that theres cables showing, the tech gets dinged on his score card, has to waste time to drive back out, cut you a new cable, waste his cable, he may be paying for by the foot out of his own pocket, etc.

Just about every cable tech does this, because were not supposed to install shit into your house that isnt cable, or cable boxes, or cable related things. Were not insured for it, just like we cant and shouldnt move your TV's, or ever touch an electronic device that isnt your TV.

if you want it hidden, we arent wasting our money to leave you a bigger cable.

ive done this countless times at the request of the customer.

another huge one, is when the wife wants it hidden, and the husband wants the longer cable, and wants to be able to hide it, and both are pissed because they cant have it their own way, then turn around and get pissed at you when you make a decision for them.

dont bitch at the cable guy for stupid simple shit, he's been through hundreds of homes and ran across every nit picking asshole in the world, and most people want things a specific way. You not wanting it like that, IS RARE - so instead of leaving it to chance that someone will bitch to the call center about too much cable showing, theyre gonna leave you a short cable, and when you tell them you intend to have it mounted, they're gonna tell you mounting is not their job, call an audio video guy.

in fact. come to think of it. Ive never ran across a single customer who didnt want it that way because they were going to mount a shelf at the location later. I have ran into plenty that ive asked if they wanted it like that, who said yes instead of asking for more cable, and then bitched about it later.

again. you want it somewhere in particular you should ask for it that way.

I personally find that Velcro is the prefered means of hiding them. you should try that - you know, instead of being a dick and parading around reddit looking for some kind of sympathy for something that probably isnt even an inconvenience.
