Has anyone lost a parent to suicide?

I haven’t lost a parent to suicide, but my uncle killed himself when my cousin was in her early teens. They had an extremely strained relationship, but she still loved him. He was a verbally abusive (not as much towards her from what I understand) alcoholic who was constantly in and out of her life and rehab. He did not have custody of her, but had visitation. I am sure that he thought she would be better off without him because of his temperament and his condition.

I can't speak for every situation, but my cousin was not better off without him. She very quickly went from a relatively normal child of divorce (like she had some adjustment issues, but was doing well socially and in school) to struggling with severe emotional issues, drug abuse and promiscuity. I feel like an asshole because I sound like an after school special, but I am serious. She did recently complete college, but it was a struggle and took her over 10 years due to her volatile emotional condition. I was around her a lot as a kid, up until she was about 16-18. (I am younger than her). When her father was alive, they had tense moments but she really did love him. Now, she can't even talk about him. Several other deaths on that side of the family happened in the few years following his suicide and she blames him for all of it. She is still extremely angry about her father's death and only has bad things to say about him now, which was not the case when he was alive. I can't say what would have happened if he were still alive, but these are the facts that I do know.

The only other person I ever knew that had a parent commit suicide was a girl that I was hospitalized with. Her father committed suicide when she was two and it left her with serious abandonment and trust issues. She frequently feels that her father knew she was no good and not worth living for. She has tried to commit suicide multiple times, she is 24. She too has struggled with drug addiction as well as anorexia and mental illness.

Arguably, for both these cases some of this stuff could have happened anyway due to genetics, as both their fathers were confirmed to have suffered from mental illness. Anyways that's my answer for you, those are the only two people I can think of that relate to this.
