Why are houses in California still selling at an alarming rate & so high over asking price despite the wildfires, drought, sea level rise, etc. etc.?

I take it back, I researched and there are some fairly large forests in AZ and NM.

Now I’m wondering if I should only search blue states, because of Covid and anti-masking. Which drastically restricts what areas you can go to. Some Trumpers think they should secede from the union or have a civil war. If things get bad, they could decide to do that and you could be stuck in a bad place. Anti masking is also bad, Montana, the Dakotas and parts of the Midwest might not be objectively bad, but if everyone is not wearing a mask and your boss demands you take yours off, you’re not safe either. The only thing I can figure is the far West coast, which is unaffordable. As you know, the elevation is very low in many coastal or river areas so that’s not great either. In Oregon it’s as low as 25 feet in places. Some parts of PNW are right next to rivers or the ocean and could possibly flood.

I’m in the SW now. Crime is getting terrible, and there’s three months of the year that are dangerously hot. Even the weather in Sacramento and Fresno is cooler. These purple states are too full of angry Trumpers that are getting radicalized. Republicans on my Nextdoor feed are talking about guns and shooting anyone that knocks on their door. Ten years ago these same people were there but not talking like that. They say they love Tucker Carlson. They are being radicalized and aren’t going to be safe to be around.
