Article by Bon Appetit claims that Calorie Counts on US menus are "as harmful to some as they are helpful to others"

when they were talking about wanting eating to be a source of pleasure for them, I think this is an unhealthy view of food. We should try to improve ourselves to the point we get our joy and happiness from our lives, not using our food as an escape from our lives or a way to relieve stress. Eating should be about providing our bodies with the best nutrients possible to make us as healthy as possible.

Eh. Yes and no.

I'm 100lbs. I've never been obese, or even really overweight. I'm here because 2 years ago I had 20lbs to lose to get to where I am personally happy (I'm younger - I still want the bikini bod) and I never left. And food is without a doubt 100% my love and passion in life.

I thought I had no talents until I was in my TWENTIES because I can't play any sports, I don't have any specific hobbies, I don't play music, etc. Then I discovered the world of cooking. Every magazine I read, every book I buy, every online article/video I watch.. its all food. Cooking techniques, recipes, where to eat in other cities, food in places around the world I don't know about - You name it, I love it. ALLLL vacations center 100% around where we will be eating/drinking.

So yeah. I guess I'm biased but if we viewed pleasure eating as a whole as unhealthy, I'd lose the one thing in life that has ever given me an identity. Eating mass quantities of food is not a good way to escape stress, but food in general? I see nothing wrong with loving everything that goes into food.
