BEWARE. Read this conversation. "Fully trained" $3000 GSD from Griffin Shepherd Kennels, dog is sick, isn't housebroken, bit a child. Augusto Deoliveira refuses return.

In a world with millions of homeless dogs, i cant support the intentional breeding of animals to be accessories to human vanity. I have had to work with the most serious, respected breeders in America, both in a veterinary setting, as well as at Westminster. And even these "best of the best" breeders do things i find appalling and unethical such as "line breeding".

For example, there is no such thing as a good Bulldog breeder. English Bulldogs heads are too large to fit thru the birth canal of the mother. They almost always require a c-section. These dogs are subjected to multiple forced pregnancies and c-sections.

Great Danes. Everyone wants tthese dogs bred to be as large as possible, purely for cosmetic purposes. With no regard for the terrible pain they endure from early onset joint degeneration, arthritis. The common immunodeficiency diseases and severe allergies. The list of common Dane issues is endless.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Jesus christ their terrible hearts with the MVD that even "respectable" breeders can't seem to avoid.

Out of the thousands and thousands of pure bred dogs I've met, perhaps one or two was bred for and used for a specific job. Nearly 100% of dogs bred are purely designed to be living accessories to people who want to project an image. Breeders sell their living creatures to people who can pretend to be cordial for a 10 minute interview. They sell this "labor of love" to strangers.

Breeding is unconscionable. Outdated. Immoral.

Im not going to edit my previous comment. I have looked into the eyes of so many dogs bought from fancy breeders, dogs who were living sorry lives at the hands of shitty owners who had no problem shelling our 2K for them but can't be bothered to feed them good food or take them to the park. I've looked in the damaged eyes of puppy mill dogs, whose existence is perpetuated by the glamour that the idea of "pure breeding" espouses.

I'm not editing shit. My comment stands.
