When I first saw this headline I my reaction was <ragetyping>
"Holy shit, is Reddit this stupid? 100 billion is NOT 1 trillion." </ragetyping>
Then I read down through the article and saw that their claim, burried in the article, is that in about 25 years, he might hit 1 trillion:
Right now, Gates stands as the most likely candidate to reach that milestone. For its analysis, Oxfam researchers applied the average growth rate of the ultra-rich — 11 percent per year since 2009 — to Gates' current levels of wealth, which was about $84 billion at the time of the study. If his investments keep doing as well as they have, the 61-year-old billionaire could indeed become the world's first trillionaire.
This is based on Bill Gates' current net worth of $87,000,000,000 billion, and an average growth rate of 11% per year in the market:
Year | Net Worth |

At this point I still feel like I've been trolled.
