I understand, and I'm sure that anything I say will come across as a lie made up in his defense.

However, I find it very hard to believe that what she claimed to have happened was rape. She came to our friend group and told us that that's what it was. I believed her wholeheartedly until she came to me privately to say that what had happened between them was a drunken mistake, and that anything he had done was not done maliciously. Even then I still had my doubts. After that, she freely came to me telling me how much she missed him and how she wanted to be his friend again but her boyfriend was keeping them apart.

After that, when confronted with the issue of my boyfriend and I spending time together, she became adamant that she had never said any of it. Anything I said was met with "no, I was lying about that". So ok, if all of that was a lie then why ask him to meet her today in private?

Why tell him that he hadn't done anything wrong if he had? Why insist that I had made it all up? I understand where you are coming from. But it makes no sense to me that she would wait until over 2 years had passed to tell him that he was not guilty? Why say that to him at all if something actually had happened?
