The US does not formally recognize dual citizenship. This isn't a debate, that is a fact. They don't prohibit you from having it, as some other countries do, but they do not acknowledge it when determining your rights as a US citizen. Which was my point.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. I suppose the USA cannot take away my right--given to me by the UK--for UK citizenship. They cannot force the UK not to recognise me as a citizen and break their own laws.

By all accounts the US doesn't really make money off the process, it just covers the costs of the paperwork and consular services involved. But I'll happily agree they should make it as cheap as possible. If you want though, you can just shred your documents and never go back.

This is untrue. They make money off the exit tax, and it used to cost $450. Now it costs literally thousands. They are 100% making money off it.
